Online Maths and Chemistry Lessons

Hi, my name is Zac. I'm an undergraduate chemistry student at Imperial College London and I've just completed my second year. I went to school at St Paul's School London where I thoroughly enjoyed my time. I've had experience tutoring both A-Level students, in maths and Chemistry, and GCSE students in Maths. I have also worked as a sports coach where I coached exchange students in both rugby and tennis. I love helping people learn and passing on my own knowledge in a way that I would have connected with during my school days. I also understand how to make learning interactive and fun whilst still focusing on a results driven learning process.

Tutoring Experience

-Tutoring A-Level Chemistry and A-Level Maths for 3 months in preparation for previous exam cycle.
- Tutoring GCSE maths for students who are struggling with the subject.
- Coaching both Rugby and Tennis to students on an exchange program

Tutoring Approach

I strongly belive in active recall, and encourage students to tackle problems in lessons both to cement what they know, as well as to highlight areas where attention is required allowing me to step in and guide their learning. My approach is very subject specific. For subjects such as maths, and chemistry, I feel that a strong focus on past paper questions and topic review questions is the best way to improve as these subjects are very much problem solving exercises, especially during examinations. However, a subject like biology requires less problem solving and more memorisation and application of terms and explinations. Therefore, I employ a more content focused approach, talking over specific areas and highlighting patterns and trends found in mark schemes. For french, I find french is learned best when it is spoken as this encourages students to become more familiar and consistent with the language and to develop reliable patterns of speech which can be easily carried over to written french.
