I have three sons and four grandchildren. I am married. I have 2 dogs who love lots of walks and playing ball. I have a degree in humanities and a PGCE both gained from the University of Greenwich.
I have worked as a primary school teacher for 18 years. I ventured into secondary 11 years ago when I was approached to support year 7 transition. I am now fully familiar with all exam boards and my students have achieved great success in both English and maths. I teach occasionally in school to keep up to date with current practice but my main teaching role is as a 1:1 tutor, or as an intervention teacher, visiting busy schools across North Kent area. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to travel from Kent to Essex due to unpredictability of tunnel traffic.
The classroom can be an inspiring place for children to learn, but it can also be full of distractions. With class sizes becoming increasingly larger, one to one tutoring can help a young child/adult to reach their full potential, without the distractions that can lead to significant gaps in learning. Tutoring at home can also increase a young person’s confidence; my own son had a tutor when he was young and I truly believe she made the difference to his future in a successful career. I am willing to discuss my experiences if required.
