I teach Latin, English and French to GCSE level. My BA Honours Degree in English and Latin and feel as passionate about language as the day I graduated. After teaching privately, a successful career in journalism ensued and for many years I have been a writer and editor for high profile national publications. I have now gone full circle, returning to education and the teaching that first inspired me, this time with a new intake of pupils.

I live in north Kingston and have a grown-up daughter who teaches Maths. Needless to say, I tutored her through her English GSCEs, as well as French and Latin, for which she achieved A star grades.

Tutoring Experience

After graduating in English and Latin from Royal Holloway College, University of London, I taught both subjects privately to pupils aged between 11 and 18 on a one to one basis. I have helped pupils attain high grades in GSCE Latin and English, and A level English Literature. I am also proficient in written and spoken French and can teach this subject to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach

I treat each pupil as an individual. While discovering their strengths and helping them increase their confidence in their abilities, I also pinpoint the areas in which they need the most help. By engaging with the pupil in a positive way, I seek to inspire their interest and enjoyment, and develop strategies to help them improve their knowledge of the subject and attain higher grades.
