I have been working in education for 17 years with 12 of these as a successful science teacher. I am currently a Deputy Head of Science leading our departments KS4 course. I have been tutoring for over a decade and also work for both AQA and Edexcel marking Physics exams during every GCSE period. I have been doing this for 6 years. I have a degree in Physics, but with a special interest in Astrophysics and Planetary Science.
I have been working with teenagers for 17 years now. Initially I worked with students with special needs but later trained to be a Science teacher. My career started by teaching students in London but I have worked in the West Sussex area for 11 years now. During most of this time, I have tutored students aged between 10 and 16 (although have taken a brief break due to Covid and having my own young children). My specialism is Physics and can teach this up to GCSE. I can also teach Biology and Chemistry up to GCSE standard. I have been marking for Edexcel and AQA for six years so have an intricate knowledge of what these boards require of students in their exams.
We can arrange an initial meeting to see if you think I am an appropriate tutor. I am a proactive with an emphasis on the ideology that 'practice makes perfect'. I use exam questions a lot to re-iterate and consolidate learning as during exams, this is often where students can make mistakes. The more familiar a student is with the lay out and wording used in an exam, the more comfortable they will feel when they come to sit it.
I can offer online and face to face sessions.
