Maths and Physics Tuition in Cambridge

I am currently a PhD student at the University of Cambridge in Materials Science and Physics, with a background in Chemistry. I love all things science and am passionate about helping everyone to understand and enjoy scientific subjects. I am a native English speaker but I grew up in France so am fluently bilingual. Growing up I played the trumpet and excelled in science and maths subjects, and have tutored students since my teenage years through to University level. I really enjoy science and think it can be a lot of fun if approached in the right way. In my spare time I enjoy playing music, reading, and hiking around Cambridgeshire.

Tutoring Experience

I tutored a number of primary and secondary school aged children whilst in high school and university, both in France and the UK, with a focus on maths and science. I specifically tutored A-level students in Chemistry, and GCSE students in chemistry, science and physics. All achieved very good marks, and improved their understanding and enjoyment of the subjects. At Cambridge I have tutored undergraduate students in chemistry and materials science. I have conducted conversational French lessons with adults and university students, and provided French learning support for primary and secondary age students.

Tutoring Approach

I believe it is important to meet students wherever they are in a subject and try to build from there, instead of forcing them to adapt to a certain level immediately. It is important to me that the student fundamentally understands the subjects rather than simply learning enough to pass the exam and move on. I enjoy finding different activities to try to engage the student in the subject matter, including in person or online games, quizzes, video or written media, and different memory techniques to keep things engaging and fresh.
