I am a fully qualified Primary Teacher and have been working full time as a teacher since 2012. I hold a PGDE in Primary Teaching alongside a degree in Art History from the University of Glasgow.I love teaching and sharing my love of learning with pupils.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked full time as a Primary Teacher for over 10 years, teaching from P1 to P7. I have previously tutored through First Tutors both in Glasgow and Aberdeen, successfully helping secondary pupils through their National 4/5 and Higher exams in English and History.

Additionally, I have tutored P7 pupils through entrance exams for both Albyn and Robert Gordons, both of which were accepted.

I have worked with a wide variety of tutees in Aberdeen, from Secondary English to helping with the transition to S1 from Primary. I have also worked with pupils in P2 and P5 to help catch up after moving curriculums.

Over the years I have both tutored and taught in a classroom setting, pupils with a wide range of support needs. This includes, but is not limited to, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, ASD and Down Syndrome. I am very familiar with the Early level right through to Third level in the primary setting.

Tutoring Approach

When teaching within my classroom, I endeavour to be as creative as possible. This is something that I try to apply to my tutoring, however I also recognise the need for focused learning time. My most successful tutoring experiences have been when I have encouraged my tutees to push themselves academically, often just by trying to make them see a piece of work in a different light. I always assess tutees first and see what I need to work on with them, changing this as time goes on in order to provide appropriate challenge.

The social and academic wellbeing of my tutees is paramount, and I always ensure that my tutees feel supported as well as challenged. Sessions are completely tailored to the individual and may have games and practical materials, or be heavily textbook based depending on needs. This allows your child to get the most out of each session.

When working with secondary pupils for exam purposes, I try to equip my pupils with as many study skills as possible, along with looking at things a bit more 'strategically' for exams such as Higher English where the volume of information to learn can be overwhelming.
