Tutoring Experience

I currently teach at a secondary SEN school, where I work with a wide range of learners and needs. I’m especially passionate about supporting students who struggle with self-esteem or confidence in their abilities.

I have taught English to students in Years 7–11 across both mainstream and SEN secondary settings, with experience in schools across Portsmouth, Brighton, and Surrey. I also have experience working in a primary school, which has given me valuable insight into how to support students through the transition from primary to secondary — especially those who may find that shift particularly challenging.

Before transferring to complete my PGCE at the University of Brighton, I spent two years training in Speech and Language Therapy. This experience has given me a strong foundation in language development and a deeper understanding of how to support students' comprehension. It has enabled me to develop practical strategies that build confidence, strengthen communication, and deepen understanding — particularly for learners who need additional support to access and engage with English.

My approach is all about encouragement, patience, and progress. I believe every student has potential — often more than they realise — and I’m here to help unlock that. Whether it’s boosting core skills, preparing for exams, or just building belief, I tailor my tutoring to each individual, making sure they feel seen, supported, and challenged in the right way.
