Maths Tuition in Sandwich

I am a very approachable, positive and supportive teacher in a secondary school. I have always had a huge passion for maths from a young age and take pride in helping others enjoy mathematics which in hand certainly helps them learn. I have two children and so understand the importance of education and instilling confidence around a subject to build momentum. If in person I am looking to work with someone in or around Canterbury or Sandwich.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching in different schools for 14 years. In terms of success from my students I have managed to get grade 2 achieving students to grade 4 (pass) in their final GCSE year alone at school. I have also managed great success in A levels, achieving 100% in exams from some students. Last year I helped a student this year get an A in mathematics A level from tutoring alone 3 hours a week - they had no A level classroom lessons at all! This year I passed the NPQLT course supporting my skills to lead other teachers.

Tutoring Approach

Firstly I would welcome a chat to see if we are a good fit for each other.

I like to use time efficiently when tutoring to ensure maximum success. I do this through diagnosing an individual and using gap analysis to pin point weaknesses or even more efficiently if you know your own weaknesses from your teacher/elsewhere. Once weaknesses are found I like to ensure a deep understanding by looking at 3 aspects surrounding a topic: 1.) the basics 2.) throwing in possible "twists" trying to catch you out 3.) problem solving questions. It is also important to complete a certain number of questions on a topic to support the long term memory.
