I am an enthusiastic and understanding tutor who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I am empathetic and having taught GCSE and A-level for more than15 years, I’m very aware of the pressures they are under and how quickly the two years pass. I specialise in building confidence and making quick gains.
Having taught in Italy, Hong Kong and Japan, I have a global outlook and can easily put an international student at ease.

Tutoring Experience

An experienced educator with two decades of experience in the classroom.
I have taught in a variety of schools, most recently, an outstanding grammar school, where I was the head of psychology for three years, and previously the head of sociology for 5 years. My department achieved excellent results with students going on to study at competitive universities.
Prior to this I taught in a private school, comprehensive schools and international schools.
I specialise in tutoring, sociology and psychology students and have on-going examining experience with the know-how of what examiners looking for.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is about building confidence, so starting with vocabulary and understanding key concepts building this up to shorter answers then finally working on essay writing skills. It is important to be prepared for exam type questions, so these are regularly introduced along with looking at mark schemes, and examiner commentaries with the aim of “getting in the head of the examiner”!
For high achievers, the focus is on 'standing out', making sure answers hit the highest bands and encouraging wider reading to gain a greater depth of understanding.
