Laina

Hi! My name is Laina and I am an experienced teacher and tutor. I am a half native speaker, being born in England to a Spanish parent, giving me the perfect balance and understanding of both languages. I now specialise in Spanish language, including for GCSE and A Level exams, KS3 and primary improvement, as well as adult lessons and conversation skills. I also offer in home language GCSE preparation, including Russian language.

I have a PGCE in Spanish with French (with Qualified Teacher Status), and a First Class BA degree in Spanish and Russian from the University of Manchester.

I am dedicated to supporting children and adults to achieve their goals and to reach full potential. I currently teach Spanish in a school in Liverpool.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 10 years experience in the education sector, having taught and tutored people of all ages from 3 years old to 80 years old - it is never too late to learn!

Over the last 3 years, I have offered high quality tuition across secondary level education, as well as adult beginner Spanish and conversation skills.

After graduating with a First Class Spanish and Russian degree, I attained an PGCE and gained experience in KS3, KS4, KS5, and primary education. I now teach across KS3 and KS4 and have a proven track record at teaching GCSE and supporting home language GCSEs too. Prior to that, and alongside my own education, I taught swimming and first aid to children, as well as coaching and teaching beginner swimming to adults.

I continually develop teaching skills which allow me to promote progression, resilience, and confidence in learners.

When it comes to learning languages, confidence in one’s own abilities is key, which my teaching methods will help learners to achieve. I establish an engaging curriculum and motivate deeper level thinking and understanding of languages. At the same time, I strive to always create a safer and stimulating environment to allow learners to thrive.
