I am a Durham University graduate with a First Class degree in Biology, ranking 3rd in my year. Having maintained a high level of motivation throughout my studies, I am passionate about inspiring students to reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals.
With a strong academic background, from excellent A-level results to university success, I am well-equipped not only to explain biology clearly but also to guide students through effective exam techniques. I have developed a wide range of personalised methods to help students retain and understand information in ways that suit their individual learning styles. I also pride myself on my creativity and adaptability, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student’s unique needs.

Tutoring Experience

I have several years of tutoring experience, working with both GCSE and A-level Biology students throughout my degree. Additionally, I volunteered as a mentor for younger students while at school. I have supported learners at various levels, helping them prepare for exams, complete coursework, and deepen their understanding of biology.
Many of my students have achieved significant improvements in their grades, reflecting the effectiveness of my teaching approach. Through this experience, I have developed a flexible teaching style that adapts to each student’s unique needs, ensuring they feel fully supported and confident in their learning journey.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach begins with ensuring students develop a deep understanding of each topic. I use interactive presentations and regularly quiz students to maintain focus and check comprehension. Once the basics are clear, we work through a variety of engaging activities such as fill-in-the-blank exercises and flashcards to reinforce learning in a fun and memorable way.
Next, I guide students through past paper questions to build familiarity with exam formats and to teach effective exam techniques, helping them understand not just what to answer but how to answer it clearly and concisely.
To support ongoing revision, I create detailed revision packs with comprehensive notes tailored to each student’s needs, along with written model answers for past paper questions to demonstrate ideal responses. Additionally, I offer mini topic tests and mock exams, to track progress and identify areas for improvement. This structured, interactive approach helps students gain confidence, improve their grades, and develop strong exam skills.
