I am a medical doctor who has recently completed my second year of resident training, with a strong passion for both medicine and education. I hold the Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and during my MSc, I explored how to make learning more effective through my dissertation on Radiological Anatomy and Pedagogy.
My own education began with the International Baccalaureate Diploma and IGCSE, so I understand the challenges students face and enjoy helping them learn with clarity, confidence, and curiosity. Outside of work and teaching, I love to read (fiction mostly), swim, scuba dive and play badminton!
Teaching experience:
Anatomy Demonstrator at the University of York and Hull. Topics included: neuroanatomy, anatomy of the trunk, anatomy of the limbs and limbs and spine, and anatomy of the head and neck. Taught pre-clinical year medical students and physician assisstant students.
Tutor at MasterMedPrep (an online tutoring company) - included Personal Statement masterclass webinars, UCAT masterclasses, Anatomy and Biology presentations and tutoring, Medical interview tutoring and mock interviews.
Year 3 Lead and Tutor during for the Manchester Medical Education society.
Peer Mentor for Year 3 Medical Students at Manchester.
GCSE Maths tutor for 2 years, whilst in medical school.
I am a patient and enthusiastic tutor who loves making learning clear and engaging. I adapt lessons to each student’s needs, helping them build confidence and truly understand the material, whilst using my communication skills that I have developed whilst working as a doctor.
Over the years, I moved towards focusing on making complex topics clear and approachable by breaking them into simple, logical steps. My techniques include using visual aids, practical examples, and active discussion with the student. I aim to makes students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and truly understand the “why” behind what they learn, because this is what helped me the most whilst learning!
