I'm a patient, enthusiastic, and organised tutor who loves learning and sharing that passion with others. I speak several languages, play multiple instruments, and am an avid reader— for the last couple of years, I’ve set myself the challenge of reading over 100 books a year! I especially enjoy working with children and helping them grow in confidence as they reach their full potential. I have seen the impact that tutors can have on a child’s progress and enjoy being able to play a small part in their success.
I am a Head of Year and Head of Maths at City Junior School and have been teaching primary school for eight years, mainly in upper key stage 2. I have worked in the state sector, preparing children for their SATs exams and in the private sector, working towards 11+ entrance. I have experience working with children with special educational needs (dyslexia/dyscalculia) and very high achieving children (some individuals who fit both criteria!)
My tutoring approach is grounded in the latest pedagogical research and shaped by my extensive classroom experience. I take a mastery approach to maths, using manipulatives and multiple representations to help students develop a deep, lasting understanding of each concept. In English, I draw on evidence-based strategies to build strong reading and writing skills, always tailoring the work to suit the individual learner. My sessions are designed to ensure each student makes excellent progress, grows in confidence, and feels thoroughly prepared for their academic future - whether that’s entrance exams, SATs, the challenges of secondary school or just feeling more confident in class.
