Hello!
I am young, friendy and enthusiastic tutor, currently in my 2nd year studying Materials Science Engineering at Oxford University. I did my GCSEs and A-Levels at The London Oratory School in Hammersmith and Fulham in London, not long ago! As well as achieving high A-Level grades, I also won various academic awards some of which are below. I am also an avid football and water polo player!
Fresh out of school, I have limited tutoring experience, but that also brings some benefits, which are that my exams were not long ago and I remember the content, exam techniques and I have all my notes/revision resources still with me which allowed me to obtain A*s in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, as well as A in Further Maths.
Having two younger siblings has meant that I have spent a significant amount of time explaining GCSE and A-Level content both with them by my side and online when I am away. Furthermore, while studying for my A-Levels, I assisted teachers in their lessons and after school sessions and I answered pupils' questions, who I am very eager and passionate to work with!
I have also obtained various academic awards, such as Silver in the Chemistry Olympiad, Silver in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and winning the Cambridge Kelvin Science Competition.
My approach to tutoring is to cover the topics which the student desires, whether that be the topic the student is currently studying in class or topics which the student is finding tricky. When covering topics I like using the textbook as a reference but I also making connections to other areas of the course because I believe this is the best way to encourage the essential regular repetition of content.
I love answering pupil's questions, whether they may be questions on the course, questions they are struggling for homework or past exam questions. My approach to answering questions is not to lecture students but to work and reason alongside them to help them reach the answer. This method allows students to truly grasp the topic. For this reason, I am approachable to answer questions outside lessons too!
Lastly but most importantly, I believe it is fundamental to transmit passion and excitement for the subject the student is studying!
