Online Maths and Entrance Exams Lessons

I studied Mathematics at Cambridge University at both undergraduate and Masters level, obtaining a 1st class BA and Distinction in my Masters. In 2023, I completed a PhD in London focusing on the mathematical aspects of gravitational theory.

I teach maths and further maths A level for all exam boards. I also teach entrance exams such as STEP and MAT. If you would like help with a specific STEM subject exam, please by all means message.

I am taking on students for the academic year 2025-26.

I tutor 4-8pm on Mondays - Thursdays.

Lessons are taught on Zoom using my personal meeting room. I can send whiteboards as a PDF at the end of the lesson for future reference. If Zoom does not work for you, please let me know and we can consider alternatives.

Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring 11 years ago and, with the exception of 2025 (when I was away), I have tutored every week for the previous 7 academic years with a total of 15 GCSE students, one FSMQ student, 29 A level students, 19 further maths students and 25 students I helped with their university applications and Cambridge/Oxford interviews for maths and computer science. The students had a wide range of abilities and I was able to accommodate to their various needs. I have been very lucky in that, despite not all of them enjoying mathematics, they have all been very eager to learn which has made them all a delight to teach.

Most relevant tutoring experience: (as of June 2025)

A level Mathematics (includes year 12 further maths students) - 860 hours
A level Further Mathematics - 610 hours (see above)
GCSE Mathematics - 190 hours
FSMQ - 10 hours
KS3 Mathematics - 15 hours
GCSE and A level science - 45 hours

University application mentoring - 190 hours
Oxbridge mock interviews - 70 hours
CSAT and CTMUA entrance exam - 15 hours
MAT entrance exam - 65 hours
STEP exams - 180 hours

University mentoring for first years - 15 hours

I have approximately 2300 hours of tutoring experience of which over 1800 hours have been online (as of May 2025).

Tutoring Approach

A lot of people have the qualifications to teach mathematics, but the most important part of maths tuition is gauging how much the student is understanding and calibrating your examples such that they are pushed to a high standard without being overwhelmed. As well as this, it is important to be able to invent new ways of looking at things on the spot that you feel are best appropriate for how this particular student learns. I have developed these skills over my years of tutoring and have had a great deal of success with my students.

I aim to maintain a relaxed atmosphere in lessons in order to ensure the student feels comfortable enough to ask questions and most importantly say when they are not understanding something.
