Online Maths and English Teacher

My academic background is in science and arts; I graduated with a BSc (Hons) from Royal Holloway University, and went on to obtain a MMus in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I also studied collaborative piano. I offer tutoring in Psychology (to A-Level) as well as singing and piano lessons.

I love helping students grow in confidence - I'm always striving for the magic "aha!".

Tutoring Experience

Ten years 1-1 teaching to A-level including working with young people with specific needs such as autism, dyslexia and ADHD.
Educational psychology clinic experience - assessing and 1-1 teaching of reading, writing, comprehension and maths (Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes).

Tutoring Approach

The core of my teaching approach is to help students build confidence in their subject knowledge and critical writing technique, and to ignite passion for the subject. I tailor lessons to fit the student's individual learning style. With an academic background in psychology and educational psychology, I'm passionate about equipping students with powerful learning techniques so that they can get the most out of their learning time. Lessons are structured with varying levels of challenge and different activities to keep the lesson positive and focussed.
I stay up to date with marking criteria specified by exam boards to ensure students are preparing in the best possible way for their exams.
Lessons always conclude with a clear plan of what to do next, and where appropriate, a debrief for parents/carers so that the student continues to be supported between lessons.
