As an experienced primary school teacher, I am passionate about educating students of all ages, with a particular specialisation in English, writing and reading. I also have extensive experience providing support to children with additional needs. In my leisure time, I enjoy skiing, reading, writing, and embroidery
I have a strong background in teaching English, including preparing students for internal exams through revision and feedback. I have worked with all ages in Primary and up to S2 in secondary in both state and private institutions. My experience also includes developing and delivering tailored lessons, assessing student progress, and setting achievable targets. I've also organised after-school activities such as Creative Writing clubs, fostering a love for literature and expression. I am adept at assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and setting achievable targets through effective marking. My teaching has involved working with various curricula, including the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and elements of the English National Curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive and relevant approach to learning.
My approach focuses on creating individualised learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of each student. I am adept at fostering positive relationships and promoting positive attitudes towards learning. Crucially, I have considerable experience supporting neurodiverse students (such as autism and ADHD), using a variety of tailored strategies to engage them with learning and achieve their full potential. I also believe in establishing productive partnerships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on progress and collaboratively discussing future steps and support strategies.
