Hi, my name is Beth, I am 27, and I am coming to the end of my PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Bristol. I studied Biology at University and have a broad knowledge of, and strong passion for, nature and science. During my PhD I have carried out research in bees and other insects and love all things wildlife. I enjoy learning and sharing science with others. I had a brilliant tutor myself at school and understand how helpful one to one teaching can be and what a difference this can make to the way you feel about a subject.
I have several years of experience teaching at undergraduate level at the University of Bristol, including tutorial based teaching, laboratory demonstrations, field work, student project supervision and marking. I am experienced teaching both online and in person.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching and believe in the importance of helping student's to find a learning style that works for them.
From personal experience, I deeply recognise the value of patient and enthusiastic teaching. I am passionate about encouraging a student's natural curiosity as I feel that this can help contextualise the information they are learning which can improve understanding and learning outcomes. My teaching style is calm and flexible and therefore I can incorporate a variety of different approaches based on the needs of a student.
