Thank you for reading my profile! My name is Lexie, and I am passionate about helping students to demonstrate their full potential and achieve the grades they deserve. I am currently studying in my final year at university, working towards a degree in occupational therapy. This allows me to use scientific and mathematical knowledge in practical, clinical situations. My background in occupational therapy allows me to understand students’ needs during tutoring and adapt teaching to suit them.
I have experience in tutoring GCSE maths, and have also led A-Level peer support groups, supporting other students to understand difficult concepts. Through my occupational therapy background, I have experience working with and supporting people with different disabilities and additional needs. I completed A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, achieving an A* for every subject. I completed GCSEs in Maths, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, French, Religious Studies, and Design and Technology, achieving a level 9 for every subject. These grades demonstrate subject knowledge, as well as skills in revision and exam technique, which I am keen to pass on to other students.
I tutor in a personalised way, working alongside the student to tailor sessions to meet their needs. No two people are the same, so a one-size-fits-all approach isn’t always effective! Students receive personalised teaching focused on supporting their difficulties whilst simultaneously celebrating their strengths. I welcome feedback after lessons to ensure that students are getting the most out of our time together.
In a typical lesson, we will focus on a topic that the student has difficulty with. This may include explanations of key concepts, model answers, and exercises for the student to complete. As we get closer to exams, I implement lots of past papers to develop effective exam techniques and build the student’s confidence. I have found this method of teaching effective in previous tutoring.
Thank you for reading my profile, and I wish you the best of luck in finding the right tutor for you. :)
