My names Adam and I'm a Primary School Teacher who loves working with children from 5 all the way up to 16. I love bringing energy and enthusiasm to learning as I want to turn daunting and worrying feelings into enthusiastic and engaged ones. The learning process is different for every unique individual and I love to harness every child's personality to shape a lesson that works best for them and their needs.
Outside of teaching I love to draw, keep active through football and climbing, and of course, I make sure to unwind with a good cup of tea in front of the tele!
I have teaching experience across a wide range of ages with children from all different backgrounds. I have taught KS1, 2, 3 and 4 both in the UK and in an international school. I have taught a range of English and Maths schemes such as Talk4Writing, White Rose Maths, Edexcel Maths, AQA maths and iGCSE, using a range of resources and techniques to enhance a child's academic ability.
I have a deep understanding of the British Primary Curriculum and GCSE Exam expectations, these come from my 4 years experience as a primary school teacher and my Pure Mathematics Undergraduate degree. I also have experience teaching EAL learners, so know how to adapt my lessons and language to those not so confident speaking in English.
I like to think of my teaching as incredibly adaptable and using Math Mastery Approach. Learning should not be about completing a repetitive process without a deeper understanding as to what and why you are doing something. A child should be able to comprehend, complete and check their work and provide reasoning for each step in the process and I teach to ensure that a child is able to not only do this, but also learn to love each subject, and learning, with as much enthusiasm as I do.
I believe the learning process, including mistakes, errors and everything in between, should be enjoyed and embraced. Without a positive mindset towards learning, academic success can be difficult, I aim to make children feel confident in their own abilities to take on even the most difficult of problems, all whilst tailoring my approach to each child's personality. These are all reasons as to why I take time to understand a a child's learning psychology and emotions towards Maths and education throughout the teaching process. I want each child to not only improve their grades but change their mindset to school and learning
